I think we can all agree that people are social. Social computing is when we combine social behaviours and information systems to create a space where users can communicate and collaborate via the internet.

First generation of the web. It focuses on creation and commercialization. EXAMPLE: A website called My Space was used mostly of a personal nature and did not have much of a corporate presence as today's sites do. | A minor collection of information technologies, applications. Promotes creativity, connection, collaboration and a more social community. EXAMPLE: Tagging Using a tag or a keyword to describe a piece of information in multiple, overlapping associations rather than in rigid categories. |
Social Commerce
The delivery of electronic commerce activities and transactions through social computing
Social shopping is a type of e-commerce which uses tools to enhance the shopping experience. Uses techniques to draw people in through discount if you join online, online shopping clubs and communities and only online shops. Social advertising uses influencers, peer pressure and friend recommendations to influence people to purchase items online.
