Ethics within I.T

Utilitarian approach - provides the greatest good for the greatest number.
Rights approach - protects and respects the moral rights of the specific affected parties.
Fairness approach - where all humans are treated equally.
Common good approach - a communal outlook, where the community as a whole and is important to the welfare of everyone, not just some or particular members.
This is the ethical framework and how they go about an ethical issue:
Code of ethics:
A collection of principles that are intended to guide decision making by members of an organisation. Fundamental tenets of ethics are:
• Responsibility - Accepting the consequences of your decisions and actions
• Accountability - Determining who is responsible for actions that were taken
• Liability - A legal concept that allows or gives any individual the right to recover the damages done to them by other individuals, organisations, or systems. Another thing to consider is that what is unethical is not necessarily illegal.

A very simple and sweet approach to summarize the chapter. Ethics may never be easy but with some help from a few guidelines and standards finding the best approach for a moral situation can become more obtainable.
