Blog Post 4
4.1 Computer Network
Connects devices/computers in order to transmit information amongst the devices with ease. The transmission has a particular capacity which is called a Bandwidth, and is measured in the unit bps (beats per second). High capacity transmission technologies, such as the internet, are called Broadband.
4.2 Analog and Digital Signals

Analogue:
-continuous
-amplify
-frequency
Digital:
-discrete
-can be either on or off
Network Protocols
Protocols are just rules and regulations that look over transmissions across a network. A common protocol is called the ethernet. Transmission Control/ internet protocol technology allows people to transfer files through dodgy networks and receive the file uncorrupted. The model has four layers:

The World Wide Web makes information storage, retrieval, formatting, and presentation easier by adhering to widely accepted standards. With the aid of browsers, users can look through websites and obtain desired content by entering uniform resource locators, or URLs.

4.4 Network Applications
They allows users to browse and search data sources, in all topic areas, on the web. Things like search engines allow people to search for specific information by key words and report the results, and metasearch engines which can search several engines at once and integrate the findings of the various search engines to answer queries posted by users. Portals are online platforms designed to serve as personalized gateways to information and knowledge. They use advanced techniques to gather content from various systems and the internet.
